Located in the U.S. State of Michigan, Petoskey is a coastal resort and city that has an estimated population of around 5,670 (according to the 2010 census). It serves as the county seat for the Emmet County. At the same time, the city is famed for its rich history of American Literature, particularly in stories written by Ernest Hemingway, who is known to spend most of his childhood summers near the famous Walloon Lake.

The history of Petoskey goes back to the 1830s, during which the designated area was inhabited by indigenous people, which include the Odawa people. 20 years later, several religious groups also found home in the area and nearby Little Transverse Bay. Later on, the area became a very famous spot for bird hunters. In the late 19th century, Petoskey was known to be a place where almost 50,000 passenger pigeon bird were killed in massive hunts.

Fast-forwarding to recent times, Petoskey has grown into quite the amazing and beautiful place that is famed for its high concentration of Petoskey stones. The city is also known to be the home for several celebrities and TV stars. These include the actress, star of NBC series “The Blacklist”, Megan Boone, television host Katie Brown, Civil War historian Bruce Catton, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, voice actor for Otis Campbell on “The Andy Griffith Show” Hal Smith, and musician and keyboardist for the Moody Blues, Alan Hewitt.

According to the 2010 census, there are currently 1,319 families, 2, 538 households, and 5,670 people residing in the city for which the racial markup is  0.4% Asian, 4.7% Native American, 0.7% African American, 91.7% White, and 1.9% Hispanic or Latino. In terms of climate and weather, Petoskey receives quite the harsh summers and winters. In summers, temperatures may rise up to 91°F, making it essential for homeowners to buy an air conditioning system. In winters, the mercury levels drop to -15°F, making it crucial to invest in a heat pump system.
